Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Srinagar, check in to a deluxe houseboat on Dal Lake and take a shikara ride at sunset.

  2. Day 2

    Gulmarg day trip with the gondola ride to Kongdoori.

  3. Day 3

    Pahalgam — Betaab Valley, Aru Valley and Chandanwari by local taxi.

  4. Day 4

    Sonmarg drive with a stop at Thajiwas glacier.

  5. Day 5

    Mughal gardens — Nishat, Shalimar and Chashme Shahi, then local market shopping.

  6. Day 6

    Transfer to Srinagar airport for your return flight.

Questions travellers ask

What is the weather like through the year?

March to May is spring with pleasant days, June to August is the green season, and December to February brings snow. We suggest dates based on what you want to see.

Why are pony rides and local taxis excluded?

In Pahalgam and Sonmarg those are run by local unions at fixed rates that change often, so we keep them out of the package instead of quoting an inflated figure.

Is the houseboat comfortable in winter?

The deluxe houseboats we use have heating and hot water. For December and January we usually recommend one houseboat night and the rest in a hotel.
